E così, durante il mio ultimo giorno in Laos - ci troviamo infatti a Vientiane, la capitale del paese - mentre attendiamo di partire per ben 24 ore di bus (sì, avete letto bene) che ci porteranno ad Hanoi, in Vietnam, ho finalmente trovato il tempo di aggiornare il Blog.
Dopo Luang Prabang, ci siamo infatti diretti a Vang Vieng con un viaggio di circa 4-5 ore via bus. Se il Laos può essere definito il regno indiscusso del relax, lo stesso non si può dire di questa piccola città.
Si tratta probabilmente di una delle mete preferite da giovani e backpackers qui in Laos. Deve la sua fama, oltre ai piccoli locali serali che potrete trovarvi, ad un'attività in particolare: il Tubing.
Vang Vieng si sviluppa, infatti, sul fiume Nam Song. Sulle rive di questo corso d'acqua sono nati alcuni bar piuttosto movimentati ... ed ecco che allora giovani provenienti da tutto il mondo passano le giornate spostandosi da un bar all'altro proprio "nuotando", grazie ad una camera d'aria - il tube, appunto - che si può noleggiare per 55,000 kip (poco più di 5 euro).
Tra birra - pong, cicchetti gratis, musica e partite a beach volley, il divertimento è assicurato !
Noi ci siamo fatti travolgere da questa pazza attività per ben due giorni ... e lasciare Vang Vieng non è stato facile !

Dove dormire
Noi abbiamo soggiornato al Maylyn Guesthouse. Costo per una tripla a notte: 60,000 kip (6 euro circa). Ci siamo trovati veramente bene. Lo staff è gentile e cordiale ed il posto è un vero paradiso. Immerso in un giardino pieno di fiori e farfalle meravigliosi. Unico difetto ... essendo dall'altra parte del fiume si trova un po' lontano dal centro, ma una camminata di 10 minuti è più che sufficiente per raggiungerlo. Consiglio: ci sono due ponti a Vang Vieng, uno a pagamento - 4000 kip, l'altro, pedonale e purtroppo aperto solo durante la stagione secca, gratuito.

Today, during my last day in Laos - we are now in Vientiane, the capital of this country - while we are waiting for the 24 h bus which will take us to Hanoi, in Vietnam (yes ... 24 h!!! My God), I have finally found time to update the Blog !
After Luang Prabang, we headed to Vang Vieng - the bus journey lasts 4-5 hours. Laos is definitely one of the most relaxing and quiet country I've visited so far ... but Vang Vieng it's not at all.
This is probably one of the young backpackers' most favorite destination here in Laos. Known for one activity above all: Tubing.
Vang Vieng rises on Nam Song river. On the riverside, there are plenty of nice bars and pubs, where all the young tourists love to go and party for the whole day. To go from one bar to another, you can surf a tube in the river. You can rent it for 55,000 kip (approximately 5 euro).
Playing beer - pong, beach volley, drinking free shots and dancing it's impossible not to have fun !
We spent two days tubing ... and leaving Vang Vieng wasn't easy at all !

Where to sleep
We stayed at Maylyn Guesthouse. Cost for a triple room per night: 60,000 kip (approximately 6 euro). We really loved that place. The staff is nice and helpful and the place is such a paradise! The garden is lovely, full of flowers and wonderful butterflies. One lack only ... the distance from the city centre, since it's located at the other side of the river, but you can easily reach it with a 10 minutes walk. One suggestion: there are 2 bridges in Vang Vieng, one which ask you to pay 4000 kip to overtake it, the other one, instead, is free. Unfortunately it's open during the dry season only.
