Scoprendo Bologna tra Vermeer e la cucina emiliana - Discovering Bologna through Vermeer and the emilian cuisine

La mostra de "La ragazza con l'orecchino di perla" ha ormai conquistato tutt'Italia in poco tempo. Bologna, città a me molto cara soprattutto perché casa dei miei studi universitari, è stata animata da una nuova vitalità, e non possiamo che ringraziare Vermeer di questo.

Non che il capoluogo emiliano fosse prima privo di tale vitalità, anzi . . . Bologna è da sempre la città più attiva della regione, spesso caotica con le sue vie dello shopping, il traffico e la sua attività commerciale, ma al contempo magica, colorata e profumata da mille odori e sapori, quelli della cucina bolognese, invidiata ed imitata in tutto il mondo, patrimonio culturale di cui non possiamo che andar fieri.

Tuttavia, passeggiando per le vie della città non ci si può non render conto di quanto quest'iniziativa abbia fatto bene allo spirito dei Bolognesi. Non c'è negozio, infatti, che non vada fiero d'esporre, sulla propria vetrina, il manifesto dell'evento o anche solo una foto del famoso quadro protagonista della mostra, "La ragazza con l'orecchino di perla", appunto.

 

Linea d'ombra, che da anni seguo entusiasta attraverso le sue mostre, con quest'ultima esposizione ha davvero saputo dare una svolta alla propria storia, nonché a quella della città di Bologna.

"La ragazza con l'orecchino di perla - Il mito della Golden Age da Vermeer a Rembrandt, capolavori dal Mauritshuis" ha superato ogni mia aspettativa.

Come si entra nella prima sala d'esposizione di Palazzo Fava - quella dedicata ai capolavori del Mauritshuis, museo dei Paesi Bassi al cui rinnovo si deve non solo il capolavoro di Vermeer, ma questa mostra intera - non può non colpire la grande maestria impiegata nell'illuminazione delle opere esposte. I quadri sembrano quasi proiettati sulla parete, da quanto sono ben illuminati. Un'audioguida, inoltre, permette di percorrere la mostra con le spiegazioni relative a tutte le opere principali esposte nel palazzo, in modo da poter comprendere al meglio lo stile e il mistero non solo dei quadri in questione, ma anche dei loro famosi autori. Oltre a Vermeer e Rembrandt, si ha l'occasione di ammirare il lavoro di altri celebri artisti, quali il noto paesaggista dei Paesi Bassi Van Goyen, o il tenero "Cardellino" di Fabritius, l'umorismo di Jan Steen e tanti altri, che, attraverso i loro ritratti, nature morte e paesaggi sapranno lasciarvi di stucco sino all'ultima stanza, quella totalmente destinata al quadro principale dell'esposizione, sua maestà "La ragazza con l'orecchino di perla" di Vermeer, che riesce a catturare non solo lo sguardo, ma anche il cuore dello spettatore.

Una raccolta sicuramente meno numerosa delle precedenti, ma allo stesso tempo davvero molto curata e raffinata.

 

Per chi di voi volesse visitare l'esposizione, consiglio vivamente di prenotare, durante gli orari mattutini e tra settimana. Io ci sono stata martedì mattina ed era comunque molto affollato e non vi dico la fila di gente (prenotata) che c'era alle 4 del pomeriggio !!!

Terminata la mostra, io e la mia compagna di scampagnate (mia mamma) abbiamo approfittato della stupenda giornata di caldo e sole per fare un giro per il centro di Bologna, tra i negozi di via Indipendenza e il mercato di frutta, verdura e pesce delle vie che si congiungono in Piazza Maggiore, tra cui la caratteristica e colorata Via Pescherie vecchie, dove non potrete che farvi rapire dai deliziosi odori provenienti dalle numerose botteghe, pastifici e macellerie tipici emiliani e, se siete alla ricerca di un luogo dove fare sosta pranzo, qui avrete l'imbarazzo della scelta. Consiglio vivamente il ristorante "Il Calice", in Via Clavature 13, locale davvero suggestivo e che serve delle ottime ostriche ! Oppure la famosa gastronomia Tamburini, in Via Caprarie 1, dove potrete scoprire cibo di ottima qualità a prezzi ridotti in un ambiente rustico e spartano.

L'altro giorno, però, è stato il turno di un nuovo locale. Abbiamo scoperto Trattoria Da Gianni quasi per caso ed è stata una deliziosa sorpresa. Il locale si trova in fondo ad un piccolo vicolo in Via Clavature e già dall'ambiente si comprende che ci troviamo nel cuore della vera Bologna. Maglie di calciatori della squadra bolognese, infatti, decorano le pareti ed il menù a base di cucina emiliana toglie ogni dubbio. Noi ci siamo concesse un antipasto di salumi misti del territorio - la coppa di testa era a dir poco spettacolare - per proseguire poi con un bel piatto di tagliatelle al ragù, semplicemente buonissime e la famosa cotoletta alla bolognese, un piatto che non avevo mai avuto occasione di mangiare prima ma che mi ha davvero colpita. Servita insieme a purea di patate e patate arrosto, si tratta di una cotoletta di vitello con l'aggiunta di prosciutto crudo e grana sopra. Come diciamo noi Imolesi . . . SPALATO !

Tutto accompagnato da un ottimo Sangiovese superiore.

Ovviamente non potevamo farci mancare il dolce . . . una deliziosa ciambellina con cuore di amarena servita su una crema di mascarpone e cioccolato.

The exhibition of "The Girl with a Pearl Earring" is now achieving Italy completely. Bologna, a city which is so special for me, since it's where I am currently attending at the University, has been animated with a new vitality, and we have to thank Vermeer for that. For sure, the capital of Emilia wasn't without this vitality before, indeed . . . Bologna has always been the most active city of the region, crowed, with its shopping streets, its traffic and its business, but at the same time so magical, colored and perfumed with a thousand of smells and flavors, the ones of the Bolognese cuisine, envied and imitated from all the world, the cultural Heritage we can be proud about. However, walking through the streets of the city, you can easily notice how much this initiative has made for the spirit of Bologna people. There is no shop that isn't proud of the exhibition, showing, on their shop windows, the poster of the event or even just a picture of the star of the show: the famous painting "The Girl with a Pearl Earring".
 
The organization "Linea d'ombra", that I have always followed with enthusiasm through its exhibitions, with this latest show it has really been able to make a change in its history, as well as in the city of Bologna. "The Girl with a Pearl Earring - The myth of the Golden Age by Vermeer and Rembrandt, masterpieces from the Mauritshuis" has exceeded all my expectations.
As you enter the first showroom of Fava Palace - the one dedicated to the masterpieces coming from the Mauritshuis museum in Netherlands - you'll be transported by the great mastery used in the lighting of the exhibition. The paintings look like "projected" onto the wall. An audio guide will allow you to  listen to all the explanations about all the main works displaied, so you'll be able to understand the style and the mystery about the paintings and about their famous authors. In addition to Vermeer and Rembrandt you'll have the chance to admire the works of other famous artists, such as Van Goyen, the well-known landscape painter from Netherlands, or the lovely "Goldfinch" by Fabritius , or Jan Steen and many others, who through their portraits and landscapes will leave you amazed until the last room, where you will find the main framework of the exhibition, her Majesty "The Girl with a Pearl Earring " by Vermeer, which manages to capture both your eyes and heart. A collection which is certainly less numerous than the ones before, but ,at the same time, very refined.
 For the ones who wish to join the show, I highly recommend to book the visit and during the morning hours and not in the weekend, In order to avoid the crowd. I have been there on Tuesday morning and it still was very busy.

After the exhibition, my mum and I took advantage of the beautiful day and the warm sun for a tour of the city center, through the shops in Via Independenza and the Market, with stands of fruit, vegetables and fish which you will find on the narrow ways linked to in Piazza Maggiore, including the characteristic and colorful street "Via Pescherie vecchie", where you will be delighted with the delicious smells coming from the shops and the typical butchery, and if you are looking for a place where to have lunch, here you will be spoiled for choices. I highly recommend the restaurant "Il Calice", Via Clavature 13, a really impressive place, where you could have amazing oysters ! Or the famous deli Tamburini, Via Caprarie 1, where you can find excellent quality food at low prices.But the other day, we discovered a new place: Trattoria Da Gianni has been a delightful surprise. The restaurant is located at the end of a small alley in Via Clavature. From the ambience we immediately understood that we werw in the real heart of Bologna. Official T - shirt of football players of the  Bologna team decorate the walls, and the menu offering Emilian cuisine removes all the doubts. As starter, we took some mixed cured meats of the area and then we continued with a nice plate of noodles with Bolognese meat sauce, simply delicious, and the famous Bolognese schnitzel, a dish which I had never had the chance to eat before and which really impressed me. Served with mashed and roasted potatoes, it's a veal schnitzel with the addition of Parma ham and Parmesan on the top. LOVELY !We also took a dessert . . . a delicious donut filled with black cherry, served in a mascarpone and chocolate cream.
