Goodbye Derry

Thank you so much Derry and hopefully I will see you again.

It really looks unbelievable as two months can pass so quickly. When I arrived here in Derry last December, I would have never thought so, but if I think about Christmas, it really looks like it was just yesterday. Maybe that's why we still have the Xmas Tree done in our living room.
So today it's my last day here in Derry. Tomorrow we are traveling to Dublin to watch the 6 Nations Rugby match Ireland vs Wales at the Aviva Stadium, and the next morning I will take a flight to go back to Italy.
Time passes quickly when we are feeling good, and Northern Ireland is just extraordinary to make you feel like this. Every time I make a long journey, when it's time to go back home I feel so emotional. I am happy 'cause I know that soon I'll see my family and my friends, who I missed so much, and I know that I will finally eat an amazing pizza and ham, but I feel sad at the same time; it's a sadness that brings me to say "I will miss all this". I will miss the crazy weather of this city, where, thanks to the wind coming from the Ocean, you can see four different seasons every day. I will miss walking down the street, waiting for the bus while talking to someone you don't know, but who is also willing to have a nice chat. I will miss the crazy evenings in the pub drinking Guinness offered from guys who I would have never seen again, but who, for that evening, became my best friends, pushed by the curiosity to know what brought two italians like us in Derry. I will miss the spontaneity of Northern Ireland People, their courage and their kindness. I will also miss their strange accent, even if I really think I will carry it with me for a while. I will miss to wake up embracing my love every morning in our small bed, as I will miss our breakfast with strawberry jam bought with 30 pence at Tesco. I will miss all this 'cause for 2 months it has been my home.
I will miss Derry especially 'cause this is a city where you can be yourself, where it's just so easy to make yourself like at home.
Thank you so much Derry and hopefully I will see you again.

Love
Beatrice B.
